Overall Meaning

The fundamental core of this narrative captures the agonizing state of being suspended between a war that won’t end and a peace that never truly arrives. It reflects the emotional exhaustion of the Lebanese people, who are forced to live in a "purgatory" where the normal functions of life—growing, dreaming, building—are perpetually held hostage by the next eruption of violence. This state of being isn't about the physical destruction of the city, but the spiritual erosion of its inhabitants, who must remain "unbroken" out of sheer necessity even as the weight of decades of tragedy presses down on their collective consciousness.

Composition&Form

Regarding the internal structure, the work utilizes a dense, labyrinthine network of lines and biomorphic forms to represent the complex "entanglement" of the survivor. The composition is built on a series of clashing rhythms—where circular, target-like motifs fight for space against jagged, vertical "scars" that suggest the ribs of a ruined building or the frayed nerves of a human body. By crowding the canvas and pushing the energy toward the edges, the arrangement mirrors the experience of a population trapped in a constant state of hyper-vigilance, with no visual "safe harbor" or point of rest provided for the eye.

Style

The aesthetic language is defined by a raw, gestural intensity that emphasizes the struggle of the human hand against the encroaching chaos. A palette of "bruised" purples, "ashen" greys, and "incendiary" oranges is used to create a high-tension atmosphere, reflecting the sensory dissonance of a beautiful Mediterranean coast constantly stained by the soot of conflict. The thick, unrefined application of paint rejects the polished look of digital or geometric art, opting instead for a textured, weathered surface that honors the rugged resilience of Beirut—a city that continues to pulse with a desperate, vibrant life even within its darkest hours.
